Edinburgh Music Psychology Research (EMPRes) reading group holds lunchtime meetings at Edinburgh University, home to the IMHSD (Institute for Music in Human and Social Development). We read and discuss new publications in psychology, neuroscience and cross-cultural music research, and talk about their contribution to the bigger picture of music scholarship.
Music psychology is a wide area of research that embraces a range of topics, sub-topics, disciplines and methods. Reading group members share their understanding and expertise from backgrounds in music performance research, neuroscience, experimental, developmental and clinical psychology, and philosophy. Meetings are open to anyone with an interest in the field.
The meetings are organised by Dr Lauren Hadley (Psychology), Shannon Proksch (Philosophy) and Dr Nikki Moran (Music).
