Film Screening of Top Spot (Tracy Emin 2004)
This Thursday 16 Oct there will be a screening of Tracey Emin’s film Top Spot (2004) at 6 pm in 50GS Screening Room on the ground floor. Emin is in the news at the moment for her, in places, euphorically reviewed new exhibition at the White Cube in London, where she is engaging provocatively, of course, with the Western tradition of painting and sculpture. It seems like a good moment to revisit this film which deals with young femininities and ordeals of growing up female, raising questions for the discourses of postfeminism and the current cultural engagement of ‘the girl’. Last Saturday 11th October was also the International Day of the Girl.
