Alexander Street Open Music Library: A new initiative to build the world’s most comprehensive open network of digital resources for the study of music. Curated by a community of music scholars, students, teachers and librarians, the Open Music Library brings together peer-reviewed journal articles, books, music scores, audio, and video recordings from the world’s digital collections.

British Library Sounds: Listen to a selection from the British Library’s extensive collections of unique sound recordings, which come from all over the world and cover the entire range of recorded sound: music, drama and literature, oral history, wildlife and environmental sounds.

IAML: International Association of Music Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres encourages and promotes the activities of music libraries, archives and documentation centres to support and facilitate the realization of projects in music bibliography, music documentation and music library and information science at national and international levels.

Live Music Exchange: came about as a result of a three year study of the live music sector in the UK, undertaken by the University of Edinburgh and the University of Glasgow, funded by the Arts & Humanities Research Council. An ever-evolving searchable resource for written, audio and video materials on a wide variety of live music-related topics from a wide range of sources – academic, industry, government and more. Includes an authoritative blog with guest posts from key figures such as Simon Frith and Martin Cloonan, was well as useful links.

MIMO: Musical Instrument Museums Online: the world’s largest freely accessible database for information on musical instruments held in public collections. Their database now contains the records of 56,750 instruments.

UbuWeb: an independent resource dedicated to avant-garde arts, ethnopoetics, and outsider arts, including film, sound, music and dance. All materials on UbuWeb are made available for non-commercial and educational use only. All rights belong to the author(s). UbuWeb is free to access.
