Copyright advice for the creative arts sector
For artists, designers, creators, musicians and makers, there are several copyright advice sites you might find helpful.
CopyrightUser.org is an online resource aimed at making UK copyright law accessible to students, creators, media professionals, entrepreneurs, and members of the public. This is a great site offering clear and concise guidance for visual artists, writers, musicians, developers, film-makers and performers. The site gives advice on how to re-use material legally and how to protect your own work.
Own-It is a service offering Intellectual Property (IP) advice to the creative sector.
Copyright and the Creative Industries is a downloadable booklet which you might find helpful, from the Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA).
Also from the CLA is this useful list of copyright-related organisations supporting the creative industries: http://www.cla.co.uk/copyright_information/related_organisations
You can also find guidebooks on copyright and IP in the Library, for example Copyright Law for artists, photographers and designers, by Gillian Davies, A&C Black, 2010, at ECA Library, level 0: KD1320 Dav.
