The purpose of the workshop is to explore community views and attitudes on how to raise awareness and challenge stigma around dementia in the Glasgow & Clyde. A wide mixture of people from various organisations have been invited. Some participants are personally affected by dementia, others will not.
A mixture of round-table discussions is being held whereby people move from table to table as they wish, vox pop interviews with an independent film maker who will create a short film (5 mins) on dementia in Glasgow & Clyde, and an interactive display board where people can leave comments, little audio notes, graffiti etc.
The methods employed in this project have been designed in keeping with the principles of 'public sociology' - working with (often counter-) publics to develop sociological insights as well contribute to the development of civil debate.
